Fermentables
“Fermentables” is the collective name for 4 groups of short-chain carbohydrates.
It should be mentioned that most people can eat high FODMAP foods without any issues however many people have poor absorption which can create gut health issues.
FODMAPs is the collective name for a collection of fermentable short-chain carbohydrates.
“Fermentable” refers to the process through which gut bacteria ferment undigested carbohydrate to produce gases.
GALACTO-Oligosaccharides (*GOS)
Example Foods – Beans, Ground Almonds and Rye Bread.



Fructans
Example Foods – Gluten Free Bread (over 2 slices), Cranberries and Leeks (white part)



Lactose
Example Foods – Milk, Butter and Cheese



Fructose
Example Foods – Blackberries, Boysenberry and Grapes



Sorbitol
Example Foods – Cherries, Coconut and Chewing Gum



Mannitol
Example Foods – Button Mushroom, Watermelon and Celery (stalks, only).
